    Dodos & Daggers

Guys, what if we roleplayed in game, and there was like, some kind of ongoing adventure? There'd have to be some kind of ridiculous adventure hook like "Fhylie and some other folks birdnapped a bunch of dodos and now we're going to race them through the Sapphire Avenue Markets for prizes", as if to highlight this free company's general level of carefree fun and mayhem. But then maybe there'd be something that went wrong during the event. Something to set off a bigger adventure, with TALE in the right place at the wrong time. Oh, no. Oh, no. Well, we shouldn't have too much exposition in this, a fancy invitation to adventure.

It might! It might even be better. However, I'm a lot less experienced with it.

Starfinder is also fantastic for similar reasons, though sci-fi settings are by their expansive nature a lot harder to run in some ways. Anyways, I'm waffling between level 3-6 for a start, because I don't view our longtime TALE characters as being level 1, but I don't think any of us roleplay as like... epic level things necessarily. I'm willing to discuss it during the character generation process. Also, I intend to do a few different sessions accompanying RP afterwards and will try to do them on different days of the week (although my Tues/Weds/Fridays are usually taken).

As I mentioned at the FC meeting I'm interested in running a few TALE D&D sessions! Characters are intended to be your FFXIV character or anyone you particularly want to roleplay with the TALE gang. The intent is to use the 5E D&D system as a substitute for just /random rolls, to better reflect that, well, you're better at some things, aren't you! 5E is also not an absurdly complicated system to get into like some past editions. The intention for the first Saturday session is to handle character generation, and I have a test 'encounter' to familiarize or remind folks of mechanics involving... a dodo race. Let's call it a dodo race. Dice rolls will be handled either by discord channel dicebot, or https://roll20.net/ which is a very good website for online pen and paper gaming. I anticipate some disorganization and that's okay! I just want it to be a platform underneath roleplay in the end. Anyways, RSVP appreciatedto gauge interest. I will probably do a few of these and you can PM me on discord with ideas or questions!

Join Fhylie on a very specific kind of treasure hunt - the kind where the treasure still belongs to other people. It's better than it sounds! There may or may not be pirates, wizards, magical objects, spies, the unquiet dead, and plot contrivances. But the fun kind. Synopsis for people joining in (you should join in): Following the main story events in the Ruby Sea, the Red Kojin have been left in disarray, their treasure vaults plundered. Both the Garleans and the Onokoro gang have heard tales of the magic properties of Kojin treasures, and seek to tip the balance of power in the area by bringing them under their possession. Thus far, TALE has tracked down a group of the pirate gang remaining more loyal to the Garleans (or at least, they feel the Empire is the highest bidder to sell the treasure to), which resulted in a wildly unmatched scuffle against them on Shoal Rock. Having grilled, shot, drugged, berated, and happy-potioned the prisoners, the group has discovered the Garleans and their Eorzean contact are headed to a Kojin burial ground called Seishi-no-Mizu on Barrier Isle where the treasure is apparently held. Part 3 will be a race to pluck the Kojin stash from their grasp!

There may or may not be pirates, wizards, magical objects, spies, the unquiet dead, and plot contrivances. But the fun kind. It's been a while since any group RP, so I'm dusting off the GM robes and starting what I hope will be an ongoing story for a bit, and an excuse to get out and have our characters do things. It'll be mostly free RP with a bit of pen-and-paper inspired /random for rolls, but I'm not interested in going for a whole roleplaying system at this point (but maybe later, if there's interest! I had ideas.) As it stands, hopefully we can get together for two or three hours of fun starting at the FCHQ and heading towards the Ruby Sea. I'll plan other sessions later, and will probably move them around to different days so other people can join, but for the most part it seemed people were interested in Saturday/Sunday nights for this sort of thing. So come along and bring your adventuring stick! (Did an intro thing on 9/09, moving to 9/14 or possibly 9/16)

    TALE-iversary Trivia Game

    until
Fhylie has invited the free company to compete in a battle of wits! Not against her, though, that would be silly. Test your knowledge and participate in a team trivia battle! Contestants will be divided into two teams and the team captains will pick the rest of the contestants on their own team. Each team will be asked a question about a specific piece of (possibly obscure) FFXIV lore, and have a short time to come up with the correct answer. If the first team can't answer, the other team will get a chance to 'steal' their point, and then the chance to answer the next question first will swap. The first team to answer will be decided by the team captains rolling /random, and then the team to answer the question initially will swap in subsequent rounds. Convene in the library at fifth bell in the evening (or whatever your time zone says) for riddles and shenanigans! (5pm - 7PM PST // 8pm - 10pm EST) The 1st place team will each get a truly fantastic furniture item as a prize. But don't worry, the other team will also get a consolation prize. The players voted most valuable by their teams will also receive an additional prize at the end!
